New survey from Salvation Army suggests a rising number of Canadians are experiencing budget challenges brought on by higher prices at grocery stores
A new survey suggests a significant number of Canadians are changing their eating habits due to rising costs at the grocery store.
The Salvation Army released the poll today as part of it's Christmas fundraising campaign
About 52 percent of respondents said they had food-related budget challenges this year.
That's up from 39 percent last year.
About 41 percent said they bought cheaper food that was less nutritious, and 21 percent skipped or reduced the size of a meal.
As well, about 11 percent of respondent skipped buying a regular medication in due to increasing food prices.
