Owner Charged for Dangerous Dog

This happened in Fort Erie, the owner of a dog paying over $3,000 in fines after a 2021 incident

A Fort Erie resident is paying over $3,000 in fines after being convicted under the town's Dangerous Dog Order.

The town says it's the result of an incident that happened in 2021, when the dog was designated as a Dangerous Dog under town By-law.

This meant several safety measures were required, the by-law including fencing, signs, muzzling, leash requirements, among others.

Local animal control officers found the dog's owner did not meet the obligations, charges laid, and conviction in court.

The Town of Fort Erie says this case is a reminder Dangerous Dog Orders are legal, and not optional guidelines, meant to protect the community.
