Police say the man and woman arrested on weapon offences, after police found a gun in a Lincoln business
A dramatic takedown in St. Catharines of two suspects wanted by provincial police for being unlawfully at large.
It started June 27th, when police were told of a bag in a Lincoln business with a gun inside.
Police determined they were looking for a man and woman, and on Wednesday, police attempted to arrest them in the Dunlop and Carlton Street area.
The man grabbed a gun that was in his waistband, threw it away, and ran off, but was eventually caught.
Police say 30-year old Chessen Johnston of Mississauga is charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts)
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking (two counts)
- Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order (two counts)
- Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License (two counts)
- Possession of a Firearm Without Holding a License (two counts)
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon (two counts)
- Possess a Loaded Firearm (two counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device (two counts)
25-year old Shaqayeq Mezbani of New Brunswick is charged with:
- Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License
- Possession of a Firearm Without Holding a License
- Possess a Loaded Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
They had a bail hearing yesterday, but were kept behind bars.
