Police are urging caution after what they're calling jewellery distraction thefts across Niagara.
They say they've received over 65 complaints since the start of the year.
It starts when multiple suspects arrive in a van or SUV, and ask a potential victim for directions.
The suspect becomes insistent in giving a thank you gift, and produces a piece of fake jewellery.
This jewellery is placed around the victim's neck, while at the same time, removing the victim's real jewellery.
Police add the suspects leave before the victim realizes what just happened.
