The Ministry of the Environment has banned on-beach parking at Nickel Beach
Port Colborne is taking a look at parking changes at Nickel Beach.
The beach has previously allowed on-beach parking, but that's ending after a recent decision by the Ministry of the Environment.
The ban is being implemented immediately due to the presence of Fowler's Toad in the area.
The toad is protected by the Endangered Species Act, and the Ministry says on-beach parking puts them at risk.
Council will meet tonight to discuss a plan to build new parking lots by the summertime.
The plan will cost the city over a million dollars.
