It's meant to help with growth of infrastructure in the East Side Employment Lands district
The City of Port Colborne looking at a way to stimulate economic growth and deliver essential infrastructure, without adding more burden to taxpayers.
City council is considering two Government Business Enterprises, that, if approved, would be responsible for building, maintaining and owning the water, wastewater and potentially other infrastructure serving the East Side Employment Lands district.
That includes current and future developments, and the Asahi Kasei Battery site.
The city says Government Business Enterprises operate at arm's length from the municipality, giving cities more flexibility to manage and invest in criticial infrastructure.
The city also wants to hear from residents about this, contact city hall for details.
