The COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped in Western New York.
On Sunday, the positivity rate in the area dropped to 2.3 percent.
Numbers are down across the United States as well, however, the country is expected to hit 500,000 deaths today.
Due to the decrease in positive cases and the increase in vaccines being distributed, some are optimistic.
University of Buffalo Professor and Chief of Infectious Disease Doctor Thomas Russo says he's expecting an increase in vaccines over the next few weeks.
He's also hopeful that the Johnson&Johnson vaccine will be approved soon.
