Premier Doug Ford is backing Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff as he faces backlash for not wearing a mask while posing for group photos.
The photos were posted on Oosterhoff's social media accounts over the weekend but they were quickly taken down afterwards.
Ontario Hospital Association President Anthony Dale and NDP Deputy Leader John Vanthof have been calling for Oosterhoff to resign as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education.
Oosterhoff has issued an apology, saying he should have been wearing a mask while taking the quick group photo.
He also stated that the province has limited public gatherings to 50 people at staffed banquet halls, and less than 50 people attended this event.
During his press conference yesterday afternoon, Premier Ford accepted Oosterhoff's apology.
He says everyone makes mistakes.
