Ottawa to spend $4 million on project to boost military and police services in Ukraine.
The federal government is imposing sanctions on 62 more people and one Russian military organization accused of supporting the country's invasion of Ukraine.
Officials say the people added to the sanctions include senior Russian government officials and their family members.
To date, over 1,300 individuals and entities from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus have been sanctioned since the invasion started in February.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the additional sanctions earlier today, after unveiling plans to create a special team focused on countering Russian disinformation and propaganda.
Trudeau announced the initiative as part of a package of new Canadian measures to support Ukraine and punish Russia for launching the attack.
Ottawa is also planning to spend $4 million on a pair of projects to bolster military and police services in Ukraine, including training to help Ukrainian police officer better handle mental health and sexual trauma cases.
