Province and Feds Reach Health Care Agreement in Principle

Exact details of the agreement have not been made public yet

The province and the federal government have reached a health care deal.

Health Minister Sylvia Jones says the agreement in principle allows Ontario to begin further discussions on how new federal health-care money will be spent.

Ottawa plans to reach separate deals with the provinces and territories after the premiers agreed to accept an offer to boost the Canada Health Transfer by over $46 billion.

Ontario says priority areas include mental health, primary care and boosting the number of health care workers.

Exact details of the agreement have not been released yet.
