More Ontario workplaces will soon have access to rapid COVID-19 testing.
The province has announced that the rapid antigen testing program that was launched in November is expanding to include new sectors.
These workplaces include first responders, wastewater management, post-secondary schools and trucking and transportation.
Employees who wish to self-swab for a rapid antigen point-of-care test will be able to do so under the assistance of a trained individual.
Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade says this will ensure an added level of safety and keep more people working.
"These measures are essential to further protect Ontario's workforce as we work together towards a swift recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, stronger and more resilient before."
Over one million tests per week are expected to be deployed as the Provincial Antigen Screening Program expands in the coming weeks.
