The province says Ontarians can expect a paid sick leave plan in a matter of days.
Government House Leader Paul Calandra says the province will add enhancements to the federal program, the Canada Sickness Recovery Benefit.
He says the provincial government plans to address issues such as program eligibility requirements, wait times for receiving money, and paid time off for workers receiving vaccinations.
Yesterday, the government claimed they were awaiting Monday's federal budget announcement to see if changes were being made to the program, before deciding to proceed with additional measures.
The province has received much criticism from opposition parties for not introducing paid sick leave benefits, with NDP Leader Andrea Horewath saying the Ford government waiting too long to act.
