The Ontario government is providing the Town of Fort Erie with up to $7.4 million in provincial disaster recovery funding.
The money will be used to help repair roads, trails, a water main, shoreline protection and docks.
On October 31st, 2019, the town experienced a significant storm with strong winds and destructive waves that caused flooding along the shoreline.
As a result, local infrastructure was significantly damaged.
At the height of the storm, winds reached 100 km/hr for several hours, and waves on eastern Lake Erie were as high as 16.5 feet.
