Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health says the province's mask mandate will be lifted in schools at the same time as most public spaces.
Ontario's top doctor says masking requirements will be lifted in most sectors, including schools, 'simultaneously.'
Dr. Kieran Moore made the comment today during a press briefing, but noted the mask mandate will remain in place for now.
"The consultations have started and we will be working with school boards, with parents, with the ministries and make a decision together," he said. "But we do anticipate if we remove it in the public sector, we would do it simultaneously for the schools."
Moore also noted given positive health indicators and high vaccination rates in Ontario, health officials are reviewing all directives in hopes of providing an update in the coming weeks.
He said masking remains "an important tool in our tool box", and will help reduce community transmission even when it's no longer required in public.
