About 155,000 workers prepared to walk off the job
The country's largest federal public service union says over 155,000 workers will hit the picket lines if a deal isn't reached by 9:00 p.m. tomorrow.
The union, which represents workers at Crown corporations, federal government departments, universities and more, says the strike will start on Wednesday if contract talks fail.
The group also includes about 35,000 Canada Revenue Agency workers.
The union continued mediated talks with the Treasury Board over the weekend.
Officials say the biggest sticking point is pay bumps, as the union is calling for raises to keep up with inflation and the rising cost of living.
The union is also looking for greater limits on contract work and provisions for remote work.
