The OPP has referred the investigation to the RCMP, in order to avoid a "perceived potential conflict of interest."
The RCMP is investigating the Ford government's handling of the Ontario Greenbelt.
Earlier today, the OPP released a statement, saying it referred the file to the RCMP in order to avoid a "perceived potential conflict of interest."
The RCMP has responded, saying it will investigate "irregularities in the disposition of the Greenbelt."
This comes after Housing Minister Chief of staff Ryan Amato resigned yesterday.
Earlier this month, the auditor general released a report on the decision to remove lands from the Greenbelt.
It found the plans favoured certain developers connected to Amato.
