Mat Siscoe replaces the late Sandie Bellows
Niagara Regional councillors voting to confirm a new member will be joining their ranks.
In a vote last night, council approving the appointment of St. Catharines city councillor Mat Siscoe.
Siscoe, a long time teacher at St Paul Catholic High School in Niagara Falls, replaces the late Sandie Bellows who passed away from cancer in the fall.
The choice of Siscoe has been a controversial one.
St. Catharines' municipal staff originally recommending the post go to the runner up in the last election, Mike Britton.
But council voting in favour of Siscoe instead.
Britton told the Standard last night, he would have more to say on the appointment in the next few days.
