St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik is overseas this weekend. He's in the Netherlands, with members of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment.
It helped liberate the city of Bergen op Zoom back in October 1944, during World War II.
Sendzik will be attending multiple ceremonies over the weekend. He will a wreath at the Canadian War Cemetery this Sunday, for Netherlands Memorial Day.
The cemetery in Bergen op Zoom holds the graves of 1,100 Canadian soldiers, including 69 from the Lincoln and Welland Regiment.
