The SIU says an officer fired a gun during a deadly exchange that killed another officer
The province's Special Investigations Unit has launched an investigation in relation to a shooting that killed an OPP officer last week.
Last Thursday, Sgt. Eric Mueller died after three officers responded to a call at a home in Bourget.
The officers were shot by a 39 year old man, and the other two were treated in hospital.
The SIU says one of the surviving officers fired his gun during the interaction, and they have been called in to investigate that aspect of the incident.
According to the Special Investigations Unit Act, the SIU has the authority to look into police firearm discharges even when they don't result in any injuries.
