Smile Cookie Campaign Raises $86,000+

Organizers say the money will help Pathstone and Autism Ontario

Over $86,000 has been raised in Niagara Falls for the Tim Horton Smile Cookie drive.

Marla Smith is the Communications Director for Pathstone Mental Health, who'll be receiving half of that money in support of children and families needing help.

She says workplaces call to help decorate cookies, in order to improve morale.  "We have so many community partners, and workplaces that volunteer their time just to decorate the cookies.  Just from Pathstone alone we had 150 shifts that we were responsible for filling, and volunteers."

Autism Ontario is receiving the other half of that money.

She further praised organizations for their help.  "They're sending emails as soon as they hear it's Smile Cookie time, saying 'Hey, we got a group that would like to decorate cookies, do you have shifts for us to do?'  This year we actually had a wait list of volunteers who couldn't wait to decorate cookies."

She adds the owners of Tim Horton stores choose the charities they give the money to.
