Port Colborne fire fighters called this morning to house fire, everyone was already out
It appears regular reminders from fire fighters about having working smoke alarms has paid off.
Port Colborne Fire Chief Stan Double says they were called to a house fire this morning on Humboldt Parkway.
They came across heavy fire and smoke, but were able to quickly get it under control.
The chief says thanks to working smoke alarms, six people were alerted and made it out safely before the fire department got there.
He adds the smoke alarms are the reason a serious situation did not become deadly.
