Some restrictions have been lifted in orange and yellow zones in Western New York.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the news today, saying that the area has made it through the post-holiday spike in cases.
Although restrictions are being loosened, Cuomo is urging New Yorkers to continue to social distance, wash hands and wear a mask.
Officials say all restrictions announced as part of the state's phased re-opening remain in effect, but restrictions implemented when microcluster zones were designated are being lifted.
Restrictions that will remain in place include allowing gyms and fitness centres to operate at 33 percent capacity, a limit of ten person residential gatherings, and a 50 percent capacity at restaurants outside of New York City.
Cuomo also says that the state's latest modelling indicates a continual decline in new daily cases.
