Spend Tax Dollars Locally: MPP

Wayne Gates accused Liberals of voting against Ontario First procurement rules, saying it'll help Niagara

A challenge from Niagara Falls MPP to the government it adopt Ontario First procurement rules at Queen's Park, all the time, not just some of the time.

Wayne Gates wants every tax dollar supporting Niagara jobs, and Ontario, and not American companies.

He adds the government spends $30-billion a year on goods and services.  "In my area of Niagara, we have layoffs at General Motors, Hendricks, Iafrate, and we have, right now, layoffs at GM, Stellantis, Crown Royal, and we have chances to put workers back to work."

He pointed to Airbus in Fort Erie, and Abatement Technologies, and other companies to help with the skyway bridge, or Windsor's Banwell interchange.

He chastised Liberal MPPs who voted against Adopt Ontario procurement rules.  "We're giving contracts in Mississauga to a hospital, $140-million, outside of Ontario.  In my area, in fact in Ontario, 800,000 people don't have a job in Ontario."

He accused Premier Doug Ford of not using Canadian steel and workers, after saying he would.
