St. Catharines City Council has given the green light to a new Community Improvement Plan.
It will provide funding for redevelopment projects in the Garden City with a special emphasis on heritage preservation, affordable housing and commercial buildings.
It's also going to cover projects involving brownfield sites in order to clean up and restore contaminated land.
Senior Planner Bruce Bellows says it aligns with the City's Strategic Plan as well as the land use framework in the Official Plan.
Council still needs to pass the necessary bylaw for the 2020 Community Improvement Plan next week before it can take effect in mid-December.
