Council has approved a plan to re-designate the old GM site on Ontario Street.
The industrial land will be used for residential and mixed-use purposes.
Mayor Walter Sendzik says that moves like this, as well as the city's recent Community Improvement Plan, are a step in the right direction.
He says that they will help spur more growth in other parts of the City, which will help them emerge from the impact COVID-19 has had.
