Sendzik says restaurants should be seen as safe indoor spaces.
St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik has penned a letter to Premier Doug Ford, asking him to lift capacity requirements for restaurants.
Sendzik says the City is home to over 550 restaurants, which bring about 4,000 jobs to the region.
He notes that public health measures have been effective in Ontario, and restaurants should be allowed to operate at full capacity.
"Ontario has some of the strictest and most effective public health measures, and as a result, we can now allow major entertainment venues to host thousands of people. Restaurants should be seen as safe indoor spaces, especially if restaurants are following the same public health measures such as requiring a vaccine to enter."
