Committee investigating allegations about a 'slush' fund to deal with sexual assault settlements.
St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle is part of a committee investigating allegations made against Hockey Canada.
Bittle, who is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage, sits on the Heritage committee, which oversees Sports Canada.
The committee will meet with Hockey Canada officials next week to discuss a report claiming the organization uses a slush fund to deal with sexual assault settlements.
In May, the organization made headlines after it was revealed that it quietly settled a sexual assault lawsuit.
A woman claimed she was assaulted by eight hockey players, including members of the country's 2018 world junior team.
Several NHL players have come forward denying involvement.
The players include Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas of the St. Louis Blues, as well as Taylor Raddysh of the Chicago Blackhawks, all of whom were members of the team.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke out against Hockey Canada, saying the fund is "absolutely unacceptable."
