The first-ever WE Day event in St. Catharines has been postponed.
It was supposed to take place in early October, but the city has decided to postpone it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Councillor Kevin Townsend, the Chair of St. Catharines Youth Forum Task Force, says this is disappointing, but it's the right choice.
"While it's important for us to support our young people as they go on their journey to becoming our community's next change makers, we are taking an abundance of caution in an effort to help stop the spread of COVID-19."
The full-day event is expected to draw in 5,500 students from across the Niagara Region.
Townsend says it will be put on hold until further notice.
