Jennie Stevens says the Ford Government didn't give child care centres enough time to adjust to the new guidelines ahead of the new school year.
The NDP MPP for St. Catharines says the YMCA will not be able to open its child care centres until later in September so lots of parents will be scrambling for before and after school care.
"Parents depend on child care centres to look after their kids before and after school. As schools are set to re-open in Niagara in September it’s essential for parents, including teachers themselves, returning to work to know that there’s care available out of school hours so they can go back to their jobs."
Stevens says the Ford Government needs to expand child care options and support parents who can't go back to work full time.
