Education specialist says many post secondary students don't look into grants, thinking they might not qualify
Some advice from an Ontario based higher education specialist for students going into post secondary education.
Aidan D'Souza tells us it's important to rely on a school's services to navigate unchartered territory, and especially to be as prepared as possible.
"It all begins with the way you're set up, with how you're organized, how you keep track of everything, because that leads into the next semester, and the next semester. So that's why it's really important in your first semester to have everything planned out."
He adds it's especially important for first year students to look into financial aid. "There are scholarships, awards, or bursaries available for students to apply for. But many students don't know about it, or don't think they qualify for it. Each institution, whether it's Brock University or Niagara College, offer some type of financial aid."
He's been to a number of campuses the last few days, and says most students are eager to get questions answered and get started.
