The city portion of taxes is out, with a 1.74% increase
The average homeowner in St. Catharines will be paying an extra $31 in municipal tax now that the 2026 budget has been approved.
Mayor Mat Siscoe waived the mayoral veto period, under Strong Mayor Powers, concluding the budget process.
It's a 1.74% increase in the city portion of the tax bill.
An approved adjustment was $1-million from the Special Tax Mitigation Reserve to help reduce tax impact.
The biggest spending part of the bill by far is $6-million for watermain repairs, followed by $2.8-million for fire trucks.
