Owner Scott Barnes says the team will play at the Port Colborne Vale Centre this season, as upgrades are being made to Frank Doherty Arena, which has been the team's home for several years.
City of Thorold officials say staff tried to accommodate the Blackhawks at Canada Games Park as a temporary solution.
In February of this year, Thorold City Council awarded a $1 million contract for renovations to the ice plant at the arena.
The upgrades are expected to be completed in September.
