Thorold Councillor Wants Trees Saved

Tim O'Hare wants a plan to protect trees while development flourishes around

A deeper look to be taken by the City of Thorold in saving trees on city owned land while development happens around them.

Councillor Tim O'Hare had his colleagues support to have city staff come up with a tree saving policy, in light of a review of a proposed parking lot at the 50-plus centre.

He pointed out some trees have taken years to grow.  "If we can work around them, then that's going to be a reward for us all.  This is just a step to try and look at development, and see if there is a possibility to have a design, or an idea that saves a mature tree."

This proposal will be brought before council at a later meeting.

His tree saving plan would have input from the Environment, Climate Change Advisory Committee.
