A Thorold man has won big.
Thorold resident Jim Mate won $148,975 in the Niagara Health Lottery.
He's a staff member at the Welland Site of Niagara Health, and he bought his tickets with 11 other staff members.
To date, the Niagara Health Foundation has awarded $269,135 in cash prizes through its lottery program.
All money raised from the online 50/50 raffle will be used towards the purchase of patient-care equipment across Niagara Health.
