Time of Use Hydro Pricing is Back

You might want to think twice before you run your dishwasher today or throw in a load of laundry before you leave for work.

Fixed price hydro rates have come to an end in all but the three COVID-19 hotspots still under a stay at home order, Toronto, Peel and North Bay.

The Ford government froze rates at the off peak price of 8.5 cents a kilowatt hour when the entire province was locked down.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy says "As stay-at-home orders have been lifted in the majority of health units across the province, we will be moving customers back to the standard tiered and time-of-use rates beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday."
