The medical officers of health for Toronto, Peel and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph are overriding the Province and shifting schools to remote learning.
TORONTO - Schools in Toronto will be moving to online learning starting tomorrow.
Toronto Public Health is the third public health unit in the Province to use section 22 of the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act to over ride the Province's decision to keep schools open. Peel Region was the first to close schools and they are doing remote learning starting today.
Last night the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health Unit announced they were following suit and closing schools as of Wednesday. Today, Toronto Public Health announced they will also be using the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act to shut down schools in T.O.
Schools in Thunder Bay and Sudbury have been closed since March.
The move comes amid a growing cry from teacher unions and opposition parties to vaccinate all school staff next week during the Spring break.
