A man had to be taken to hospital after a transport truck drove into a ditch in Port Colborne.
Police, fire and EMS were called out to an industrial facility on Invertose Drive this morning.
Fire Chief Tom Cartwright was the first fire official to arrive on scene.
"My understanding from the witnesses is that as the vehicle was exiting the property over the scales, the driver slumped over the steering the wheel and drove off the road into the ditch area."
Cartwright already knows the cause of the crash.
"He definitely had a medical emergency. Whether it was a heart attack or not, I don't know at this time. But I do know that EMS and fire worked on him for an extended period time, and then he was transported to Welland hospital."
He says truck was registered to the State of New York.
Cartwright says the Niagara Regional Police Service will be investigating.
