Niagara Falls and Fort Erie say yes
Niagara Falls has become the second municipality in Niagara to agree to a single public transit system run by the region.
Councillors yesterday approved a bylaw “to provide the Niagara Region with the exclusive authority to establish, operate and maintain a consolidated passenger transportation system for the Niagara Region.”
Fort Erie became the first of Niagara’s 12 municipalities to approve the move on Monday night.
To move the proposal forward, a majority of councils, representing a majority of Niagara electors, must vote in favour of the plan.
