But it will be up to provinces if they want to offer it
Federal Attorney General and Justice Minister David Lametti made the announcement today during a stop at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls.
Lametti says beginning August 27th, provinces can begin to introduce single sports betting if they choose.
The Minister telling the news conference, "Canadians will have he opportunity to participate in single event sports betting in a regulated and safe environment, at the discretion of the provinces and territories."
The bill ending parlay only sports betting was introduced by Conservative MP Kevin Waugh, and given royal assent in June.
St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle, Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey and Niagara Casinos President Richard Taylor were on hand for today's announcement.
