CANADA - It's a temporary end to the tariffs, for the most part.
US President Donald Trump has paused some of the tariffs against Canada and Mexico until April 2nd. He says this will help maintain the flow of auto parts that comply with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement.
In response to this news, Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc has also announced a pause for Canada's retaliatory tariffs on $125 billion of US products, but the first $30 billion will remain. This will also last until April 2nd.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford says President Trump's record of levelling and lifting tariffs within days shows a lack of stability. He announced a 25 percent surcharge on electricity yesterday which will affect 1.5 million Americans in New York, Michigan, and Minnesota.
Ford says once you touch a hot stove, you burn yourself and learn not to do it again.
