Premier Doug Ford updated Ontarians on the province's COVID-19 vaccination rollout strategy today.
He announced that beginning this week, vaccination teams will be sent to First Nations fly-in communities in Northern Ontario as part of the province's Operation Remote Immunity.
Ford also announced that the province hopes to have all residents at long-term care homes, high risk retirement homes and First Nations elder care homes vaccinated by February 10th.
The province is expecting 63,400 doses of the Moderna vaccine from the federal government by February 5th.
At today's press conference, Ford spoke of the need for vaccines to be produced in Canada as soon as possible.
"We need to ensure that our ability to protect our citizens is not compromised by a lack of vaccine supply. We need a reliable source of vaccines in this country as soon as possible, and I will continue pushing for that."
To date, over 344,000 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario.
