The Township of Wainfleet is teaming up with the federal and provincial governments to upgrade the storm water system on Lakeshore Road.
Over $640,000 has been pledged to the project, which aims to minimize roadside erosion and reduce overland flooding.
The project will involve replacing existing catch basins and two outlets to the municipal drains.
It will also assist in higher-than-normal rainfall situations that may cause flooding, by adding additional storm water handling capacity.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says he is happy about the announcement.
"I'm pleased that our government has partnered with the federal government and Town of Wainfleet to make a joint investment of almost $650,000 to improve local water infrastructure."
