A property owner in Welland will now have to pay a $35,000 fine, for not complying with the Ontario Fire Code.
Fire fighters inspected the building located at 309 Beatrice Street back on January 9th, 2019.
It houses residents who require assisted living.
But inspectors did not find an automatic sprinkler system. They became mandatory for all existing care occupancies, care and treatment occupancies, and long term care homes on January 1st, 2019.
The property owner was convicted in Provincial Offences Court yesterday.
