The school has been awarded $7-million in study grants to study police sexual assault cases
$7-million in federal money has been handed to Brock University for various research projects.
Some of that will be used by the political science wing to study claims that cases of sexual assault committed by police officers tend to be dropped, rarely resulting in criminal charges.
The school says it wants to get a better understanding of why, what barriers civilian police oversight agencies face, and is it different in other provinces.
That is a 5-year study grant.
Also part of the $7-million is $2.5-million for Brock to look into greater physical activity and understanding of its need for newcomer children to Canada.
The federal government also awarded Brock researchers 24 other grants.
