Many have wondered what's happening with site at Stanley and Ferry Streets in Niagara Falls
Looks like some progress on getting construction moving at that huge hole in the ground at Stanley Avenue and Ferry Streets in Niagara Falls.
During city council meeting last week, Councillor Victor Pietrangelo asked if rumours of a sale were true.
Chief Administrative Officer Jason Burgess confirmed it after a court appointed receivership. "The court has approved the sale to an owner... Our economic development director Mr. Felicetti has had initial discussions with the new ownership group, and is meeting with the ownership group shortly."
There are plans to put three buildings, consisting of apartment and commercial use.
The councillor commented further to the confirmation. "All the businesses that are around the area, even people that drive by have always said 'When is that hole not going to be a hole anymore and we're going to see some construction."
A number of city staff told us the original owner backed out due to financial problems related to the economy.
