First ship will go through locks in Port Colborne at 8:30 this morning
Port Colborne is getting ready to celebrate the opening of the Welland Canal.
The annual Top Hat Ceremony welcoming the first downbound ship of the season, is set to take place this morning at 8:30 at the pavilion in Lock 8 Gateway Park, hosted by Mayor Bill Steele.
Meanwhile, in St. Catharines a similar ceremony will play out at 10 this morning at the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre at Lock 3, to welcome the first upbound ship.
