First snowfall of the season expected to start tonight.
As the City prepares for the first significant snowfall of the season, Niagara Falls residents are being asked not to park on roads.
Southern Niagara is under a snow squall warning, with 30 to 60 cm expected tonight through Sunday morning.
The City says once eight centimetres have fallen, plowing operations will start on all roadways, including residential streets and culs-de-sac.
Residents can help the winter storm efforts by doing the following:
- Clearing snow and ice from sidewalks as soon as possible after a snowfall to ensure that they are safe for all residents.
- Lend a hand to those who may not be physically able to shovel.
- Refraining from parking on the street during a snowstorm while snow-clearing operations are underway.
- Keeping a safe distance from plow trucks to allow them to work safely.
- Postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you need to travel, give yourself extra time and drive carefully.
