Dr. Hirji Expects Niagara to Upgrade to Yellow Protect Zone Friday

Niagara is currently in the green zone but we could move up to yellow before the end of the week.

The Ford Government unveiled a five stage colour-coded system for COVID-19 restrictions yesterday.

We're currently at the lowest level known as the prevent zone, but Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Mustafa Hirji is expecting Niagara to move up to the protect level on Friday.

If that were to happen, we would see more bylaw enforcement and fines.

Niagara Region Public Health reported 38 new cases yesterday, bringing our total number of active cases to 196.

Our death toll remains at 74.
