Dan McTeague says gas station prices to drop a bit soon
Gas station prices expected to drop a few cents in the next day or two in Niagara, just as they surge toward the $2.00 mark.
Dan McTeague from GasBuddy.com says gas stations in Niagara with a price of roughly $1.85 are selling at cost, meaning little profit for them.
He also points to the federal government over the last 10 years. "We're only hurting ourselves, and for people complaining about $1.90, well, it would at $1.50, and we'd be selling a lot more, and we wouldn't have a debt in this country, of any kind, if we had built a few pipelines of natural gas, LNG, etc, but here we are, prices have gone up."
He suggests to keep pushing government to drop fuel taxes, including the carbon tax that he says exists.
He blames the government for not getting pipelines built over the last year as promised. "You could say 'Maybe build a pipeline'.... that would actually supercharge the Canadian dollar, probably shield us against another 3-4 cents on the litre of gasoline. So, there's a number of steps that could be taken at the federal level, but, frankly, they don't want to."
