You should never leave the food your cooking unattended and you should keep things that can burn away from the stove top.
St. Catharines firefighters had to respond to a kitchen fire at a home on Chaplin Ave Thursday afternoon.
Flames broke out on the stove top. Crews were able to quickly get it under control, but it did cause extensive damage.
A man also had to be taken to the Hamilton General Hospital Burn Trauma Unit with serious injuries.
